Do you provide travel insurance in Thailand |
||
Question: Pacific Prime can offer you a travel insurance plan as basic or as comprehensive as you need for your trip to Thailand. Not only can we help you find a plan that will cover you for the 14 days you will be away, but if you choose to extend your trip or travel to another destination, you can be covered for up to 12 months and in multiple countries too. Our expert team here at Pacific Prime has put much time and effort into researching which plans can offer the highest levels of coverage and comprehensive protection and has consequently chosen to provide plans underwritten by BUPA-IHI. Typically, a travel insurance plan will offer a wide range of coverage benefits including: Unlimited Maximum cover per person per trip Inpatient treatment Outpatient treatment Prescribed Medicines Medical Evacuation Return Trip Compassionate Emergency Repatriation Next-of-kin accompaniment Compassionate emergency visit Many of these are optional and may not be necessary depending on your personal requirements but we highly recommend certain options when travelling away from your home country. Inpatient coverage, for example, refers to the costs associated with treatment that requires an overnight stay in hospital such as room rates, anaesthetic fees and other surgical related costs. Thailand is renowned for its high quality, low cost healthcare but you still do not want to have to experience the added stress of trying to pay for treatment in a foreign country. Outpatient treatment is also a popular benefit as it can help cover the often expensive costs of general practitioners fees, prescribed medicines, lab tests and other procedures that do not require an overnight stay in hospital. Whilst Thailand has many excellent healthcare facilities and well trained medical staff, these tend to be found within and around the more developed cities such as Bangkok. If you plan on exploring some of Thailand’s more rural areas, or if you hope to engage in some more adventurous activities, you may want to consider adding emergency evacuation coverage to your plan too. If you were in a more remote part of the country, the cost of medical transport (whether by land, sea or air) can be highly expensive and so emergency evacuation coverage could help cover the costs of transporting you to a facility that is better equipped to deal with your situation, or return you to your home country if necessary. In addition to pure medical coverage, Pacific Prime can also offer you plans which include other travel related benefits to help cover you in the event of trip cancellations, baggage coverage, theft and personal liability. To find out more about non-medical coverage options, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have. You should note however, that travel plans do not tend to offer coverage for any pre-existing conditions that you may have experienced or received treatment for in the 6 months prior to the start of the plan. In other words, if you have been hospitalised or are expecting to receive treatment for a certain condition in the 6 months leading up to your departure date, your insurance provider is unlikely to cover costs for that particular condition. Calculating the premium for your travel plan is relatively straight forward and to do so, your provider will simply factor in your age and the total length of your trip. Your medical history will not affect your total premium but costs will generally increase the longer you decide to travel. Pacific Prime prides itself on staying up to date with the latest health related news in Thailand and elsewhere across the globe. We regularly update our information pages and if you head over to our Thailand page, you’ll find out some useful and interesting information about the country’s health care sector, culture and history.
