Do you offer Maternity Insurance in India

Question:
My husband is moving to Czech from India on Work permit. I am pregnant now. My due date for delivery is on June 28th. Will I get any medical coverage or insurance for delivery. Thanks & Regards, Shreemala

Answer:
Pacific Prime can provide comprehensive maternity health insurance plans to expatriates in the Czech Republic, India, and elsewhere in the world. Maternity coverage is available from over 60 of the world’s leading insurance companies, and plans with this benefit are typically guaranteed renewable for life, globally portable, and will normally provide worldwide coverage; allowing you to get the treatment you need anywhere on earth.

Expatriate Maternity options which we provide will afford you with a range of coverage benefits, including:

·Normal Deliveries with no complications

·Deliveries with complications

·Pre and Post Natal Care

·Medically Necessary Caesarian Sections

·Home Delivery and Care

Maternity health insurance plans will also be attached to an inpatient treatment coverage benefit which will enable you to receive protection in the event of hospitalization for a serious medical condition, and can often have outpatient coverage included as an added option.

It is important to note that Maternity benefits on an expatriate health insurance policy will usually only be available after a waiting period. Essentially, you must have been on the plan for a certain amount of time, usually 10 months from the start of the plan, before you can claim for maternity treatment; maternity treatment received prior to the completion of the waiting period cannot be covered under the plan. In your case, with a due date only 7 months away, it is unlikely that you will be able to receive coverage of the delivery.

However, having said that, there are options which will allow you to cover the health of your new born child; if not the delivery itself. A New Born Child coverage benefit will ensure that your baby has the comprehensive medical protection it requires from birth, and can be vital in the event that the infant is born with any congenital birth defects. While a New Born Child coverage benefit will also usually be attached to a waiting period, this waiting period is often shorter than that associated with Maternity Coverage. A typically New Born Child coverage waiting period will usually be 6 months from the start of the plan.

This means that while it may not be possible to cover the birth, you are almost certainly able to protect the infant against the worst case scenario in the event that your child is born with a serious and costly medical condition.

A new born child coverage benefit is a great way to ensure that your child has the medical protection he needs for the rest of his life, no matter what the state of his health at birth. Pacific Prime strongly encourages any soon-to-be parents to consider obtaining this type of protection on their global health insurance policy.
