Can you offer emergency evacuation coverage in Taiwan and China
Pacific Prime works with a number of leading health insurance companies which can offer substantial Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation benefits for foreigners visiting any area of the world. We can offer a number of Taiwan health insurance or Travel Health Insurance Plans, both of which can provide comprehensive medical coverage including Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation services.
If you already have an International Health Insurance Plan, a Travel Health Insurance Plan covering only the duration of your stay in Taiwan would be a suitable option. A Travel Health Insurance Plan will typically cover medical expenses in the event of an accident or illness for a specific time frame; travel insurance which we offer is provided through IHI-BUPA, and will normally afford the policyholder with worldwide travel insurance coverage. Travel Health Insurance Plans that we can offer provide coverage for Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation, as well as other coverage benefits.
A Travel Health Insurance Plan is ideal for individuals planning a holiday overseas that does not exceed 12 months in duration. Travel Health Insurance Plans, which include Emergency Evacuation, will typically afford you a wide range of benefits such as:
Unlimited Maximum cover per person per trip
Compassionate Emergency Repatriation
Compassionate emergency visit
Home transportation of the deceased
Statutory arrangements in case of death
Board, lodging and local transport for a person summoned or accompanying the insured, per day
For additional information about the IHI-BUPA travel insurance plans which we offer, please see the list of travel insurance benefits.
Doctors and health care staff in China's public health care system generally do not speak English. As such, foreign patients in China generally opt for health care at private hospitals and medical clinics where English speaking Doctors are available and and high standards of modern, medical facilities. Healthcare facilities are located predominantly within urban areas of China, with rural areas providing basic medical clinics and town hospitals. Private healthcare facilities are virtually non existent in rural areas of China. As such, in the event of a serious illness or accident, emergency evacuation will be required to reach a hospital in Shanghai, China or overseas to Hong Kong or Singapore.
Foreign patients may experience language barriers and lower standards of health care within Taiwan's public healthcare system. As such, foreign patients generally visit private hospitals and medical clinics. Healthcare facilities are generally available throughout the country, however outside of urban areas the medical care can also be limited.
In the event that you require evacuation due to a serious medical condition, an international travel health insurance policy with an emergency evacuation benefit will ensure that you are transported to the nearest centre of medical excellence. In some cases this may mean transportation to a high quality hospital with China or Taiwan, evacuation to an outside location such as Hong Kong, or even repatriation to your home country. As the costs of an emergency medical evacuation can be extremely high, we advise that all expatriates traveling to rural locations in China or Taiwan obtain some form of health insurance policy which provides emergency evacuation coverage.
