Can you offer Abu Dhabi health insurance, including cover in the USA |
||
Question: Pacific Prime can offer Abu Dhabi health insurance plans for expats living in the UAE. Many of the UAE international health plans which we provide can include a worldwide cover benefit, affording members with access to medical treatment in the UAE and any other country region worldwide including the USA. With worldwide coverage, an international health plan will protect you outside the USA and will also typically cover treatments within the US when you return to visit family or on Holiday (as long as the policy doesn’t exclude coverage in America). When Selecting an UAE international health insurance plan you will typically be offered the option of choosing where exactly in the world you would like the policy to provide coverage. The two main choices for a policy’s geographical area of coverage are usually: · Worldwide · Worldwide excluding the USA or North America If you choose to obtain a plan which includes medical protection in the USA you will often have to pay a higher premium than if you had selected an expatriate medical insurance policy excluding coverage in the country. This is due to the fact that America has the highest average medical costs in the world, and receiving medical treatment in America is extremely expensive – consequently an international medical insurance plan providing coverage in the USA will be more expensive than one that does not. Another option is to select an expat health plan that includes worldwide medical cover, with emergency treatment only in the USA. Without full access to medical benefits in the USA, the health insurance premium can be lowered. There are various health insurance providers which can offer worldwide expat medical insurance, including medical cover in the USA. To be applicable for an Abu Dhabi health insurance plan, expats must be living outside the USA for more than 6 months of the year and have a residential address in Abu Dhabi. William Russell offers Global Health UAE, an expat health plan designed specifically for expatriates living in the UAE, including Abu Dhabi. Global Health UAE offers worldwide hospital and outpatient cover with the option to include USA cover, maternity care and dental benefits. The Bupa International Worldwide Health Options is another expat plan which includes worldwide medical cover and the option to include coverage in the USA. Both William Russell and Bupa offer emergency evacuation and repatriation, ensuring immediate access to quality health care in the event of a serious accident or illness. Many international health insurance plans will include a global portability benefit. With global portability, expats can take their health insurance plan with them if they decide to relocate overseas or return to their home country. If you decide to leave Abu Dhabi, a globally portable plan will normally allow you to continue your medical benefits when you return to the USA. One of the benefits of global portability is the assurance that your health plan benefits will not be interrupted. This means any waiting period that has been completed will still be liable when you relocate overseas. This also means that any ongoing treatment for a chronic condition will still be treated when you return home. Without global portability, expats need to take out a new health insurance plan. Taking out a new health insurance plan can be difficult if you require long term treatment or have reached a certain age such as 65.
