Are there any insurance companies who offer cover to pregnant women

Question:
My wife is coming form Pakistan to Australia in March 2012 she will be in 6th months pregnancy and my question is will she get an insurance for maternity in Australia if she can what is the procudure. pls response Thanks Sajjad

Answer:

While the routine pregnancy costs (including childbirth) will be excluded, you will be pleased to know the IHI-BUPA travel plan will cover COMPLICATIONS of pregnancy up to the 36th week. This is over and above the comprehensive cover they will offer for medical treatment unrelated to maternity. All maternity plans carry a waiting period, and once the waiting period has been passed then you’re eligible for coverage. Further to this we can also find a policy for your wife which will enable her to add her new-born child to her policy without underwriting. I have sent you a quote via email already and look forward to your response.
