Maura Jones, a bachelor in nursing at Carrington College in the United States, received the scholarship prize this year &#8211; a USD 1,000 grant to go towards her education expenses. Muara entered the program by submitting an eloquent and illuminating essay on the topic, \u201cThe effects of aging population on health care\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a mother of two young children, Maura has been in school for the past years pursuing a degree in nursing, and ultimately, her dream of becoming a flight nurse. \u201cMy family unit is the most important thing to me and is what keeps me going everyday to achieve my goals.\u201d She commented, \u201cI want to thank Pacific Prime for giving me the assistance I need to make the world a better place.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The effects of aging population on healthcare by Maura Jones<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maura\u2019s winning submission attributes much of the current geriatric population problem to the Baby Boomers and presents how they are flooding the healthcare market. She illustrates how the demographic shifts, given the rising medical costs and the lack of resources, will overwhelm the public healthcare system by 2030. On the other hand, she also pinpoints that the geriatric population will push up the demand for medicine and technology. While many submissions we have received focus purely on the negative impacts of the aging population, this essay stands out with its valuable insight into the potential benefits brought by the silver tsunami.
