Cost of IMG International Health Insurance for Expats and Travelers
Your IMG insurance plan’s cost depends on numerous factors, such as age and destination. You also have multiple options to choose from to get the exact coverage at the price point you’re comfortable with.
It’s strongly recommended that you don’t just go for the cheapest plan available because that might not give you the exact coverage you need.
IMG’s Options for Coverage Selection
There are several options available for customizing your coverage, such as the geographical area of your coverage, deductibles, and premium modes. We will discuss these options below so you can understand how to optimize your plan for your needs.
Worldwide Medical Coverage from IMG
You can choose one out of two coverage areas: Worldwide or Worldwide Excluding the U.S., Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Singapore, and Taiwan.
Choose the coverage area that matches your geographic area of need. Each provides complete coverage, but premiums reflect the cost of care in parts of the world.
Deductible Options from IMG
IMG offers multiple deductible options to choose from. A deductible is how much you pay out of pocket before your insurance starts paying for services. The higher your deductible, the lower your premium will likely be, although you may need to pay some of the bills yourself.
IMG offers seven deductible options, ranging from USD $250 to up to USD $25,000, depending on your selected plan.
Four Premium Modes from IMG
IMG allows you to pay for your premium entirely upfront or to choose from one of the four payment frequencies below:
- Annually
- Semi-annually
- Quarterly
- Monthly

How can expats ensure their IMG insurance plan covers pre-existing conditions effectively, and what documentation might be required during the application process?
To ensure IMG insurance effectively covers pre-existing conditions, expats should opt for a plan that explicitly includes pre-existing condition coverage, such as the Platinum plan, and review waiting periods or limits that may apply. During the application process, documentation like detailed medical history, previous diagnoses, and current treatment records may be required to determine eligibility and coverage terms. It’s essential to confirm how pre-existing conditions are defined under the plan and if any riders or additional premiums apply.
