The British United Provident Association, widely known as Bupa, is a British health insurance provider established in the United Kingdom in 1947. Bupa's services were initially focused on providing health insurance to UK nationals, improving access to quality health care and complimenting the National Health Service scheme. In 1950, Bupa expanded its health insurance services by launching group health insurance products, the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) being the first of its clients.
