AXA PPP Company History

1938 London Associate Hospital Services (later to become AXA PPP) is founded, as a health insurance scheme for middle income earners in London. 1943 Hospital Service Plan is launched, London Associate Hospital Services has over 3,100 members. 1961 Company name is changed to Private Patient Plan, with membership numbers reaching over 367,000 people. 1971 New products are launched over 20 years period from 1971 to 1991. Some of these include the Family Masterplan, Private Hospital Plan, and Retirement Health Plan. 1990 Membership numbers reach over 1.79 million. 1998 Guardian Royal Exchange acquires Private Patient Plan. Back to Health is launched, a corporate health insurance scheme that aimed to reduce employee sickness. 2001 CommonSense is launched, a health and safety and occupational health product. 2002 Renamed AXA PPP Healthcare. Membership numbers reaches over 2 million. 2003 Medical Industries Services (MIS) is acquired which is later names AXA PPP
Occupational Health Services.
Independent Health Cover is launched.
A range of new products are also launched over the next few years, some which include
Launch of Recovery, Launch of Cashback, and Essential Health Cover.2004 Launch of Health Cover, Health Cover Plus, and Retirement Essentials products are launched. 2005 Company Celebrated 20 years of the AXA brand. 2006 AXA PPP is awarded “Best Innovation” and “Best Outdoor” by the Institute of Personal Development Recruitment Marketing Awards. 2007 AXA PPP is awarded “Best Group PMI Provider” (Private Medical Insurance). ICAS International Holdings is acquired. 2008 First Healthcare, a health insurance product for children, is launched. 2009 AXA PPP International is created, in response to the expanding international market.
