Languages: The official language of the Czech Republic is Czech; however, languages from several other European countries such as Polish, German, and Slovak are prevalent.

Religion: The Czech Republic has one of the largest agnostic, atheist, or non-believer populations in Europe. It was estimated that as much as 59% of the population falls into this category, the rest are, 26.8% Roman Catholic and 2.5% Protestant.

Government: The Czech Republic is a multi-party parliamentary representative democracy. The Prime Minister is the head of the nation followed by the bicameral Parliament of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

Head of State: The current Prime Minister of the Czech Republic is Jan Fischer.

Military: The Czech Republic no longer uses a conscript army and has replaced conscription with a professional Army and Air Force of specialized units. The Czech Republic has also been a member of NATO since 1999.

Economy: The Czech Republic is one of the most successful post-Communist former Soviet states with a GDP of about 80%. The Crown is the current currency used in the Czech Republic; however a desire to transition into the Euro in 2010 is evident. Tourism is also a large part of the Czech Republic’s GNP. Over 5.5% of the GNP and 9.3% of all export gains are related to tourism.
